SN, SNA and SNH names describe related split-housing families, but the series name alone is not enough to confirm interchangeability.
SN
SN housings are horizontally split arrangements commonly configured for grease lubrication, with locating rings used where a locating-bearing position is required.
SNA
SNA families can support tapered-bore and cylindrical-bore bearing arrangements. The bearing, sleeve, shaft and location requirement determine the complete configuration.
SNH
SNH housings use positive cap-and-base alignment. The cap and base form a matched assembly and should not be mixed between housings.
What to confirm before substitution
Compare the complete arrangement rather than matching only the series letters.
- Bearing designation and bore type
- Shaft diameter and centre height
- Mounting-hole centres
- Locating or non-locating duty
- Seal and end-cover requirements
Send the existing designation and dimensions when replacing another make or an older housing. FRIENDS can review the arrangement before quotation.
